FabIndia forced to withdraw an advertisement for a clothing collection – called 'Jashn-e-Riwaaz' – after senior BJP leaders, including BJP MP Tejasvi Surya slammed the brand and accused it of 'defacing' Diwali by linking the festival to an Urdu term the company has said means "celebration of traditions". Later he was joined by several of senior BJP leaders and party workers. Anti-FabIndia campaign was launched and Hindu community was urged to boycott the company. In his Tweet from the social media platform Twitter, the BJP MP attacked the company advertisement by saying “this deliberate attempt of abrahamisation of Hindu festivals, depicting models without traditional Hindu attires, must be called out”. He further threatened the company by saying “And brands like @FabindiaNews must face economic costs for such deliberate misadventures”, in the same tweet. FabIndia withdrew the advertisement due to this right-wing attack.
